Target Description: The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins that contain multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some of the members are active cysteine protease inhibitors, while others have lost or perhaps never acquired this inhibitory activity. There are three inhibitory families in the superfamily, including the type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins and the kininogens. The type 2 cystatin proteins are a class of cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in a variety of human fluids and secretions. The protein is an S-type cystatin, based on its high level of expression in saliva, tears and seminal plasma. The specific role in these fluids is unclear but antibacterial and antiviral activity is present, consistent with a protective function. The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins that contain multiple cystatin-like sequences. Uniprot Description

CST4: This protein strongly inhibits papain and ficin, partially inhibits stem bromelain and bovine cathepsin C, but does not inhibit porcine cathepsin B or clostripain. Papain is inhibited non-competitively. Belongs to the cystatin family.

Product Notes

The CST4 cst4 (Catalog #AAA3206146) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CST4 antibody - N-terminal region reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CST4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CST4 cst4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: MARPLCTLLL LMATLAGALA SSSKEENRII PGGIYDADLN DEWVQRALHF. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CST4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
