NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound arginine/lysine carboxypeptidase. Its expression is associated with monocyte to macrophage differentiation. This encoded protein contains hydrophobic regions at the amino and carboxy termini and has 6 potential asparagine-linked glycosylation sites. The active site residues of carboxypeptidases A and B are conserved in this protein. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CPM: Specifically removes C-terminal basic residues (Arg or Lys) from peptides and proteins. It is believed to play important roles in the control of peptide hormone and growth factor activity at the cell surface, and in the membrane-localized degradation of extracellular proteins. Belongs to the peptidase M14 family.

Protein type: Protease; Membrane protein, GPI anchor; EC 3.4.17.12

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q14.3

Cellular Component: cell surface; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: zinc ion binding; carboxypeptidase activity; metallocarboxypeptidase activity

Biological Process: anatomical structure morphogenesis; proteolysis

Product Notes

The CPM cpm (Catalog #AAA7116166) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CPM Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CPM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ELISA: 1:40000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CPM cpm for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CPM, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
