Related Product Information for anti-COMT antibody
Catechol-O-methyltransferase catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine to catecholamines, including the neurotransmitters dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. This O-methylation results in one of the major degradative pathways of the catecholamine transmitters. In addition to its role in the metabolism of endogenous substances, COMT is important in the metabolism of catechol drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, asthma, and Parkinson disease. COMT is found in two forms in tissues, a soluble form (S-COMT) and a membrane-bound form (MB-COMT). The differences between S-COMT and MB-COMT reside within the N-termini. Several transcript variants are formed through the use of alternative translation initiation sites and promoters.

Uniprot Description

COMT: Catalyzes the O-methylation, and thereby the inactivation, of catecholamine neurotransmitters and catechol hormones. Also shortens the biological half-lives of certain neuroactive drugs, like L-DOPA, alpha-methyl DOPA and isoproterenol. Belongs to the mammalian catechol-O-methyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative initiation.

Product Notes

The COMT comt (Catalog #AAA847821) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-COMT Antibody reacts with Rat, Monkey, Mouse, Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's COMT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IF: 1:100-1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COMT comt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "COMT, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
