Biological Significance
C3a is one of the proteins formed by the cleavage of complement component 3; the other is C3b. It stimulates mast cell degranulation, thus triggering an immune response. C3a plays an important role in chemotaxis, though not as important a role as C5a.
Cross-Reactivity
Monospecific for C3a when present in complement activated normal human serum or plasma.

This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Immunogen
Complement C3a antibody was raised in rabbit using highly purified human complement protein as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
