NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily. Members of this family share a common protein fold and have diverse functions, such as cell adhesion, cell-cell signalling, glycoprotein turnover, and roles in inflammation and immune response. The encoded type 2 transmembrane protein may play a role in dendritic cell function. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CLEC4C: Involved in antigen-capturing. Target ligand into antigen processing and peptide-loading compartments for presentation to T-cells. May mediate potent inhibition of induction of IFN-alpha/beta expression in plasmacytoid dendritic cells. May act as a signaling receptor that activates protein- tyrosine kinases and mobilizes intracellular calcium. Does not seem to bind mannose. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13.2-p12.3

Cellular Component: integral to membrane

Molecular Function: carbohydrate binding

Biological Process: innate immune response

Product Notes

The CLEC4C clec4c (Catalog #AAA627935) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CLEC4C (BDCA2, C-type Lectin Domain Family 4, Member C) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CLEC4C can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Peptide ELISA Titer: 1:8000 Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml; ~20kD band observed in human spleen lysates (calculated MW of 21.5kD according to NP_987099.1). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLEC4C clec4c for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CLEC4C, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
