Uniprot Description

Function: Plays a significant role in the specification and morphogenesis of the sensory retina. May also participate in the development of the cells of the inner nuclear layer, particularly bipolar cells

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Nucleus.

Tissue specificity: Abundantly expressed in retinal neuroblasts during eye development and in the inner nuclear layer of the adult retina. Within this layer, expression is stronger in the outer margin where bipolar cells predominate.

Involvement in disease: Microphthalmia, isolated, 2 (MCOP2) [MIM:610093]: A disorder of eye formation, ranging from small size of a single eye to complete bilateral absence of ocular tissues. Ocular abnormalities like opacities of the cornea and lens, scaring of the retina and choroid, cataract and other abnormalities like cataract may also be present.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.6 Ref.7Microphthalmia with cataracts and iris abnormalities (MCOPCTI) [MIM:610092]: A disorder of eye formation, ranging from small size of a single eye to complete bilateral absence of ocular tissues. Ocular abnormalities like opacities of the cornea and lens, scaring of the retina and choroid, cataract and other abnormalities like cataract may also be present.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.1Microphthalmia, isolated, with coloboma, 3 (MCOPCB3) [MIM:610092]: A disorder of eye formation, ranging from small size of a single eye to complete bilateral absence of ocular tissues. Ocular abnormalities like opacities of the cornea and lens, scaring of the retina and choroid, cataract and other abnormalities like cataract may also be present. Ocular colobomas are a set of malformations resulting from abnormal morphogenesis of the optic cup and stalk, and the fusion of the fetal fissure (optic fissure).Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.6

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the paired homeobox family.Contains 1 CVC domain.Contains 1 homeobox DNA-binding domain.

Product Notes

The CHX10 vsx2 (Catalog #AAA4757490) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CHX10 Rabbit pAb reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CHX10 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB: 1:500-1:2000 FC/FACS: 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CHX10 vsx2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CHX10, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
