Related Product Information for anti-CEBPB antibody
CCAAT/enhancer-binding proteins (C/EBPs) are a family of transcription factors that are critical for cellular differentiation, terminal functions and inflammatory response (1). Six members of the family have been characterized (C/EBP alpha, C/EBP beta, C/EBP delta, C/EBP epsilon, C/EBP gamma and C/EBP zeta) and are distributed in a variety of tissues (1). Translation from alternative start codons results in three isoforms of C/EBP beta. Two of them are transcriptional activators, also known as p35 and p32 LAPs (liver activating proteins). The smaller isoform, p20 LIP (liver inhibitory protein), however, is a transcriptional inhibitor (2). Phosphorylation of C/EBP beta at distinct sites stimulates its transcriptional activity (3-5). Phosphorylation at serine 105 of rat C/EBP beta, a unique site only present in the rat sequence, seems essential for rat C/EBP beta activation (6).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this intronless gene is a bZIP transcription factor which can bind as a homodimer to certain DNA regulatory regions. It can also form heterodimers with the related proteins CEBP-alpha, CEBP-delta, and CEBP-gamma. The encoded protein is important in the regulation of genes involved in immune and inflammatory responses and has been shown to bind to the IL-1 response element in the IL-6 gene, as well as to regulatory regions of several acute-phase and cytokine genes. In addition, the encoded protein can bind the promoter and upstream element and stimulate the expression of the collagen type I gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

C/EBP-beta: a bZIP transcription factor which can form homodimers or heterodimers with the related proteins CEBP-alpha, -delta and -gamma. Involved in immune and inflammatory responses. Specifically binds to regulatory regions of genes encoding IL-6, other cytokines and several acute-phase proteins. There are two forms of C/EBPbeta, the 38kDa liver activating protein (LAP) and the 20kDa liver inhibitory protein (LIP) which may be products of alternative translation. LAP is a transcriptional activator while LIP may inhibit C/EBPbeta transcriptional activity. Phosphorylated and activated by ERK1/2.

Product Notes

The CEBPB cebpb (Catalog #AAA617421) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CEBP beta, phosphorylated (CCAAT Enhancer Bnding Protein beta) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CEBP beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blotting. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CEBPB cebpb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CEBP beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
