Related Product Information for anti-CDK5R1 antibody
p35 is a neuron-specific activator of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5); the activation of CDK5 is required for proper development of the central nervous system. The p35 form of this protein is proteolytically cleaved by calpain, generating a p25 form. The cleavage of p35 into p25 results in relocalization of the protein from the cell periphery to nuclear and perinuclear regions. P25 deregulates CDK5 activity by prolonging its activation and changing its cellular location. The p25 form accumulates in the brain neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease. This accumulation correlates with an increase in CDK5 kinase activity, and may lead to aberrantly phosphorylated forms of the microtubule-associated protein tau, which contributes to Alzheimer's disease.

Uniprot Description

CDK5R1: activator of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5). Required for proper development of the central nervous system. The p35 form of this protein is cleaved by calpain, generating a p25 form, resulting in the prolonged activation and relocalization of the CDK5 from the cell periphery to nuclear and perinuclear regions. The p25 form accumulates in the brain neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease, leading to aberrantly phosphorylated forms of the microtubule-associated protein tau, which contributes to Alzheimer's disease.

The CDK5R1(p35), CT (CDK5R1, CDK5R, NCK5A, Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 activator 1, Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 regulatory subunit 1, TPKII regulatory subunit, Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 activator 1, p35, Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 activator 1, p25, Tau protein kin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CDK5R1(p35) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry: 1:10-50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDK5R1 cdk5r1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDK5R1(p35), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
