NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a major component of the inner surface of caveolae, small invaginations of the plasma membrane, and is involved in essential cellular functions, including signal transduction, lipid metabolism, cellular growth control and apoptosis. This protein may function as a tumor suppressor. This gene and related family member (CAV1) are located next to each other on chromosome 7, and express colocalizing proteins that form a stable hetero-oligomeric complex. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene. Additional isoforms resulting from the use of alternate in-frame translation initiation codons have also been described, and shown to have preferential localization in the cell (PMID:11238462). Uniprot Description
Caveolin-2: a scaffolding protein. A component of caveolae, small invaginations of the plasma membrane found in most cell types. Involved in essential cellular functions, including signal transduction, lipid metabolism, cellular growth control and apoptosis. This protein may function as a tumor suppressor. Interacts directly with G-protein alpha subunits and can functionally regulate their activity. Caveolin-2 may function as an accessory protein in conjunction with caveolin-1. Two splice-variant isoforms have been observed.

Product Notes
The Y19 cav2 (Catalog #AAA3007916) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Caveolin-2 (Phospho-Y19) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Caveolin-2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Y19 cav2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Caveolin-2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
