GOAT ANTI HUMAN C-REACTIVE PROTEIN

Gene Names
CRP; PTX1
Applications
ELISA, Immunodiffusion
Synonyms
C-REACTIVE PROTEIN; Polyclonal Antibody; GOAT ANTI HUMAN C-REACTIVE PROTEIN; anti-CRP antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Goat
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item is specific for human C-reactive protein (CRP), a calcium-binding acute phase reactant belonging to the pentraxin family which is secreted into the plasma by the liver, in response to cytokine stimulation.

In addition to binding to phosphocholine residues, CRP can bind to other autologous and extrinsic ligands on targets, including damaged cell membranes, ribonucleoprotein particles, apoptotic cells and constituents of micro-organisms, and may activate the classical complement pathway through C1q recognition, making CRP a factor in a variety of host defense mechanisms. Levels of plasma CRP are significantly increased during the acute phase response, tissue injury and infection and can be used as a marker of inflammation, disease progress and risk assessment of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human C-reactive protein were raised by repeated immunisations of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the pentaxin family. It is involved in several host defense related functions based on its ability to recognize foreign pathogens and damaged cells of the host and to initiate their elimination by interacting with humoral and cellular effector systems in the blood. Consequently, the level of this protein in plasma increases greatly during acute phase response to tissue injury, infection, or other inflammatory stimuli. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

CRP: Displays several functions associated with host defense: it promotes agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine. Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. Belongs to the pentaxin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q23.2

Product Notes

The CRP crp (Catalog #AAA223278) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's C-REACTIVE PROTEIN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunodiffusion (ID). ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1/1000; Immunodiffusion: Minimum Dilution: 1/30; Maximum Dilution: 1/200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CRP crp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "C-REACTIVE PROTEIN, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
