Biological Significance
TGF beta family members are key modulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, matrix synthesis, and apoptosis. As implied by their name, BMPs initiate, promote, and regulate the development, growth and remodeling of bone and cartilage. In addition to this role, BMPs are also involved in prenatal development and postnatal growth, remodeling and maintenance of a variety of other tissues and organs. BMP-7, also known as osteogenic protein-1 or OP-1, is a potent bone inducing agent, which in the presence of appropriate osteoconductive carrier (e.g. collagen sponge or synthetic hydroxyapatite) can be used in the treatment of bone defects.
Immunogen
BMP7 antibody was raised in rabbit using highly pure recombinant human BMP-7 as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution product may be stored at 4 degree C in the short term. For long term storage aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

BMP7: Induces cartilage and bone formation. May be the osteoinductive factor responsible for the phenomenon of epithelial osteogenesis. Plays a role in calcium regulation and bone homeostasis. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Interacts with SOSTDC1. Interacts with TWSG1. Expressed in the kidney and bladder. Lower levels seen in the brain. Belongs to the TGF-beta family.

Product Notes

The BMP7 bmp7 (Catalog #AAA535915) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BMP7 antibody reacts with Human BMP7 and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BMP7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Inhibition, Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 0.5-2 ug/ml Inhibition: 0.4-0.6 ug/ml WB: 0.1-0.2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BMP7 bmp7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BMP7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
