Related Product Information for anti-BLVRB antibody
Biliverdin reductase (hBVR) is a serine/threonine kinase that catalyzes reduction of the heme oxygenase (HO) activity product, biliverdin, to bilirubin. BVR consists of an N-terminal dinucleotide-binding domain (Rossmann-fold) and a C-terminal domain that contains a six-stranded beta-sheet that is flanked on one face by several alpha-helices. The C-terminal and N-terminal domains interact extensively, forming the active site cleft at their interface. Biliverdin reductase (BVR) catalyzes the last step in heme degradation by reducing the gamma-methene bridge of the open tetrapyrrole, biliverdin IXalpha, to bilirubin with the concomitant oxidation of a beta-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) or beta-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) cofactor. It is now recognized that human BVR (hBVR) is a dual-specificity kinase (Ser/Thr and Tyr) upstream activator of the insulin/insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways. Human BVR (hBVR) is essential for MAPK-extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)1/2 (MEK)-eukaryotic-like protein kinase (Elk) signaling and has been identified as the cytoplasm-nuclear heme transporter of ERK1/2 and hematin, the key components of stress-responsive gene expression.

NCBI Description

The final step in heme metabolism in mammals is catalyzed by the cytosolic biliverdin reductase enzymes A and B (EC 1.3.1.24).[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2009]

Uniprot Description

BLVRB: Broad specificity oxidoreductase that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of a variety of flavins, such as riboflavin, FAD or FMN, biliverdins, methemoglobin and PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone). Contributes to heme catabolism and metabolizes linear tetrapyrroles. Can also reduce the complexed Fe(3+) iron to Fe(2+) in the presence of FMN and NADPH. In the liver, converts biliverdin to bilirubin.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1-q13.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; cytosol

Molecular Function: flavin reductase activity; biliverdin reductase activity

Product Notes

The BLVRB blvrb (Catalog #AAA8106787) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-BLVRB Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BLVRB can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ELISA: 1:5000-1:10,000 IP: 1-4uL/mg of lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BLVRB blvrb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BLVRB, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
