Related Product Information for anti-BAF57 antibody
The SWI/SNF complex is involved in the activation of transcription via the remodeling of nucleosome structure in an ATP-dependent manner. Brm (also designated SNF1 or SNF2alpha) and Brg-1 (also designated SNF2 or SNF2beta) are the ATPase subunits of the mammalian SWI/SNF complex. Brm, Brg-1, Ini1 (integrase interactor 1, also designated SNF5), BAF155 (also designated SRG3) and BAF170 are thought to comprise the functional core of the SWI/SNF complex. In higher eukaryotes, BAF57 is also a critical component of the SWI/ SNF complex. BAF57 contains a high-mobility-group (HMG) domain adjacent to a kinesin-like region and is a DNA-binding subunit of the SWI/SNF complex. The human BAF57 gene maps within the q12-25 region of chromosome 17, a gene-rich area implicated in breast and ovarian cancers.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is part of the large ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex SWI/SNF, which is required for transcriptional activation of genes normally repressed by chromatin. The encoded protein, either alone or when in the SWI/SNF complex, can bind to 4-way junction DNA, which is thought to mimic the topology of DNA as it enters or exits the nucleosome. The protein contains a DNA-binding HMG domain, but disruption of this domain does not abolish the DNA-binding or nucleosome-displacement activities of the SWI/SNF complex. Unlike most of the SWI/SNF complex proteins, this protein has no yeast counterpart. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The BAF57 smarce1 (Catalog #AAA3012288) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BAF57 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BAF57 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:500-1:2,000 ICC: 1:50-1:200 IF: 1:50-1:100 IHC: 1:50-1:200 IP: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BAF57 smarce1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BAF57, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
