NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial ATP synthase. Mitochondrial ATP synthase catalyzes ATP synthesis, utilizing an electrochemical gradient of protons across the inner membrane during oxidative phosphorylation. ATP synthase is composed of two linked multi-subunit complexes: the soluble catalytic core, F1, and the membrane-spanning component, Fo, comprising the proton channel. This gene encodes the subunit s, also known as factor B, of the proton channel. This subunit is necessary for the energy transduction activity of the ATP synthase complexes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
ATP5S: Involved in regulation of mitochondrial membrane ATP synthase. Necessary for H(+) conduction of ATP synthase. Facilitates energy-driven catalysis of ATP synthesis by blocking a proton leak through an alternative proton exit pathway. Belongs to the ATP synthase subunit s family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The ATP5S atp5s (Catalog #AAA6276602) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ATP5S, NT (ATP5S, ATPW, ATP synthase subunit s, mitochondrial, ATP synthase-coupling factor B, Mitochondrial ATP synthase regulatory component factor B) (APC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ATP5S can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATP5S atp5s for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATP5S, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
