(Immunohistochemical analysis of Aquaporin 5 staining in human lung cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.)

NCBI Description

Aquaporin 5 (AQP5) is a water channel protein. Aquaporins are a family of small integral membrane proteins related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP or AQP0). Aquaporin 5 plays a role in the generation of saliva, tears and pulmonary secretions. AQP0, AQP2, AQP5, and AQP6 are closely related and all map to 12q13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

AQP5: Forms a water-specific channel. Implicated in the generation of saliva, tears, and pulmonary secretions. Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Channel, misc.; Transporter; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transporter, aquaporin family

Product Notes

The AQP5 aqp5 (Catalog #AAA821286) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Aquaporin 5 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aquaporin 5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB (1/500 - 1/1000), IH (1/100 - 1/200). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AQP5 aqp5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aquaporin 5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
