NCBI Description

This gene represents the human homolog of Xenopus laevis apical protein (APX) gene, which is implicated in amiloride-sensitive sodium channel activity. It is expressed in endothelial cells and facilitates the formation of a contractile network within endothelial cells. Depletion of this gene results in an increase in endothelial sprouting, migration, and angiogenesis. This gene is highly expressed in the retina, and is a strong candidate for ocular albinism type 1 syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

Uniprot Description

May be involved in endothelial cell morphology changes during cell spreading. In the retinal pigment epithelium, may regulate the biogenesis of melanosomes and promote their association with the apical cell surface by inducing gamma-tubulin redistribution ().

Product Notes

The APXL shroom2 (Catalog #AAA853899) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The APXL Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's APXL can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Peptide ELISA: 1:20,000-1:80,000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APXL shroom2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "APXL, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
