Biological Significance
Clinically, alpha 1 acid glycoprotein is an acute-phase reactant that together with haptoglobin is an indicator of acute inflammation. The alpha 1 acid glycoprotein:haptolobin ratio is useful in studies of bone marrow disorders, hemolytic processes and metastases.
Biohazard Information
Prepared from tissue shown to be non reactive for HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HBc, and negative for anti-HIV 1 & 2 by FDA approved tests.
Immunogen
alpha 1 Acid Glycoprotein antibody was raised in goat using purified human alpha 1 Acid Glycoprotein as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

an acute phase reactant protein; may have a role in the acute inflammation response [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

ORM1: Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Also binds synthetic drugs and influences their distribution and availability in the body. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Cellular Component: extracellular space

Molecular Function: drug binding

Biological Process: response to drug; organ regeneration; response to vitamin E; regulation of immune system process; transport; acute-phase response; response to lipopolysaccharide; response to organic cyclic substance; chronic inflammatory response to antigenic stimulus; acute inflammatory response to antigenic stimulus

Product Notes

The Orm1 orm1 (Catalog #AAA536120) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's alpha 1 Acid Glycoprotein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Orm1 orm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "alpha 1 Acid Glycoprotein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
