Related Product Information for anti-AK6 antibody
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the adenylate kinase family of enzymes. The protein has a nuclear localization and contains Walker A (P-loop) and Walker B motifs and a metal-coordinating residue. The protein may be involved in regulation of Cajal body formation. In human, AK6 and TAF9 (GeneID: 6880) are two distinct genes that share 5' exons. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

NCBI Description

Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires the activities of more than 70 polypeptides. The protein that coordinates these activities is transcription factor IID (TFIID), which binds to the core promoter to position the polymerase properly, serves as the scaffold for assembly of the remainder of the transcription complex, and acts as a channel for regulatory signals. TFIID is composed of the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and a group of evolutionarily conserved proteins known as TBP-associated factors or TAFs. TAFs may participate in basal transcription, serve as coactivators, function in promoter recognition or modify general transcription factors (GTFs) to facilitate complex assembly and transcription initiation. This gene encodes one of the smaller subunits of TFIID that binds to the basal transcription factor GTF2B as well as to several transcriptional activators such as p53 and VP16. A similar but distinct gene (TAF9L) has been found on the X chromosome and a pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 19. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TAFII31 iso2: a component of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex, PCAF histone acetylase complex and TBP-free TAFII complex (TFTC). TIIFD is essential for mediating regulation of RNA polymerase transcription. TAFII31 binds to p53, the basal transcription factor GTF2B, and the acidic transactivator viral protein 16 (VP16). It is a coactivator for P53.

Product Notes

The AK6 taf9 (Catalog #AAA4759355) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AK6 Rabbit pAb reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AK6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AK6 taf9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AK6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
