Related Product Information for anti-ACIN1 antibody
Acinus (apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer in the nucleus) is a caspase substrate that has been implicated in nuclear changes during apoptosis. Chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation are both nuclear morphological features associated with apoptosis. Acinus is expressed in different isoforms (L, S, S') most likely generated by alternative splicing. During apoptosis Acinus is cleaved by caspase-3 to generate a 23kDa fragment that was reported to induce chromatin condensation. Acinus has been identified to be a component of the spliceosome complex, ASAP, suggesting a role in pre-mRNA processing. Down regulation of Acinus by RNA interference inhibits cell growth (5). This study also found that loss of Acinus inhibits DNA fragmentation but not chromatin condensation during apoptosis.

NCBI Description

Apoptosis is defined by several morphologic nuclear changes, including chromatin condensation and nuclear fragmentation. This gene encodes a nuclear protein that induces apoptotic chromatin condensation after activation by caspase-3, without inducing DNA fragmentation. This protein has also been shown to be a component of a splicing-dependent multiprotein exon junction complex (EJC) that is deposited at splice junctions on mRNAs, as a consequence of pre-mRNA splicing. It may thus be involved in mRNA metabolism associated with splicing. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

acinus: an ubiquitous RNA-binding protein. Component of a splicing-dependent multiprotein exon junction complex (EJC) deposited at splice junction on mRNAs. The EJC is a dynamic structure consisting of a few core proteins and several more peripheral nuclear and cytoplasmic associated factors that join the complex only transiently either during EJC assembly or during subsequent mRNA metabolism. The EJC is composed of ACIN1, CASC3, DDX48, MAGOH, PNN, RBM8A, RNPS1, SAP18 and THOC4. Forms heterodimers with RNPS1. Found in a heterotrimeric complex with ACIN1, RNPS1 and SAP18. Interacts with API5. Phosphorylation by SRPK2 redistributes it from the nuclear speckles to the nucleoplasm, and up-regulates its stimulatory effect on cyclin A1. Activated by proteolytic cleavage. Induces apoptotic chromatin condensation after activation by CASP3. Regulates cyclin A1, but not cyclin A2, expression in leukemia cells. Four alternatively spliced human isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The ACIN1 acin1 (Catalog #AAA3015078) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Acinus (Phospho-S1180) polyclonal antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Acinus can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500~1:1000 IHC: 1:50~1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACIN1 acin1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Acinus, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
