Uniprot Description

PNKD: Probable hydrolase that plays an aggravative role in the development of cardiac hypertrophy via activation of the NF-kappa- B signaling pathway. Defects in PNKD are the cause of dystonia type 8 (DYT8). DYT8 is a paroxysmal non-kinesigenic dystonia/dyskinesia. Dystonia is defined by the presence of sustained involuntary muscle contractions, often leading to abnormal postures. DYT8 is characterized by attacks of involuntary movements brought on by stress, alcohol, fatigue or caffeine. The attacks generally last between a few seconds and four hours or longer. The attacks may begin in one limb and spread throughout the body, including the face. Belongs to the metallo-beta-lactamase superfamily. Glyoxalase II family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.-.-.-; Hydrolase

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; membrane; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: hydroxyacylglutathione hydrolase activity; zinc ion binding; hydrolase activity; metal ion binding; GPI-anchor transamidase activity

Biological Process: neuromuscular process controlling posture; regulation of synaptic transmission, dopaminergic; regulation of dopamine metabolic process; glutathione biosynthetic process

Product Notes

The Mouse PNKD pnkd (Catalog #AAA9318812) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9318812 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse PNKD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "paroxysmal nonkinesigenic dyskinesia, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
