Merozoite surface antigen (MSP) is a protein located on the surface of merozoites. MSP plays an important role in immune reactions. Different species of the protozoan parasite Plasmodium cause human malaria, including Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv). Pf MSP1 is expressed and purified from E. coli. The Pf MSP1 recombinant protein antigen can be used with the Plasmodium vivax (Pv) MSP1 recombinant protein antigen MBS596167 as pairs for ELISA and rapid flow assays to detect Pf and Pv Plasmodium falciparum and vivax malaria antibodies. The Pf MSP1 p36 recombinant protein contains GST as a tag, GST-Pf MSP1 migrates at ~36 kDa.
