Related Product Information for PKN1/PRK1 recombinant protein
Recombinant human PKN1/PRK1 (289-end) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag. The MSK2 gene accession number is BC040061.
PKN1/PRK1 belongs to the protein kinase C superfamily which is activated by Rho family of small G proteins. PKN1/PRK1 is known to mediate the Rho-dependent signaling pathway and it can be activated by phospholipids and by limited proteolysis (1). PDPK1/PDK may also mediate insulin signals to the actin cytoskeleton and the proteolytic activation of this kinase by caspase-3 or related proteases during apoptosis suggest its role in signal transduction related to apoptosis. PKN1/PRK signaling stimulates AR activity in the presence of adrenal androgens and in the presence of an AR antagonist (2).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein kinase C superfamily. This kinase is activated by Rho family of small G proteins and may mediate the Rho-dependent signaling pathway. This kinase can be activated by phospholipids and by limited proteolysis. The 3-phosphoinositide dependent protein kinase-1 (PDPK1/PDK1) is reported to phosphorylate this kinase, which may mediate insulin signals to the actin cytoskeleton. The proteolytic activation of this kinase by caspase-3 or related proteases during apoptosis suggests its role in signal transduction related to apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The PKN1/PRK1 (Catalog #AAA517461) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PKN1/PRK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PKN1/PRK1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PKN1/PRK1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
