Uniprot Description

PKD1: Involved in renal tubulogenesis. Involved in fluid-flow mechanosensation by the primary cilium in renal epithelium. Acts as a regulator of cilium length, together with PKD2. The dynamic control of cilium length is essential in the regulation of mechanotransductive signaling. The cilium length response creates a negative feedback loop whereby fluid shear-mediated deflection of the primary cilium, which decreases intracellular cAMP, leads to cilium shortening and thus decreases flow-induced signaling. May be an ion- channel regulator. Involved in adhesive protein-protein and protein-carbohydrate interactions. Defects in PKD1 are the cause of polycystic kidney disease autosomal dominant type 1 (ADPKD1). ADPKD is characterized by progressive formation and enlargement of cysts in both kidneys, typically leading to end-stage renal disease in adult life. Cysts also occurs in the liver and other organs. Its prevalence is estimated at about 1/1000. Belongs to the polycystin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Mouse PKD1 pkd1 (Catalog #AAA9324920) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9324920 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse PKD1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "polycystic kidney disease 1 (autosomal dominant), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
