Intended Uses: For the quantitative detection of Human Phosphoglucomutase-1 (PGM1) concentration in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PGM1 in Human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. An antibody specific for PGM1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PGM1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PGM1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PGM1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is an isozyme of phosphoglucomutase (PGM) and belongs to the phosphohexose mutase family. There are several PGM isozymes, which are encoded by different genes and catalyze the transfer of phosphate between the 1 and 6 positions of glucose. In most cell types, this PGM isozyme is predominant, representing about 90% of total PGM activity. In red cells, PGM2 is a major isozyme. This gene is highly polymorphic. Mutations in this gene cause glycogen storage disease type 14. Alternativley spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Uniprot Description

This enzyme participates in both the breakdown and synthesis of glucose.

Product Notes

The Human PGM1 pgm1 (Catalog #AAA281798) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA281798 ELISA Kit recognizes Human PGM1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phosphoglucomutase-1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
