Related Product Information for CD31/PECAM-1 recombinant protein
PECAM is transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the Ig-related superfamily of adhesion molecules. It is highly expressed at endothelial cell junctions, and also expressed in platelets and in most leukocyte sub-types. The primary function of PECAM-1 is the mediation of leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion and signal transduction. PECAM-1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various inflammation related disorders, including thrombosis, multiple sclerosis (MS), and rheumatoid arthritis. The human PECAM-1 gene codes for a 738 amino acid transmembrane glycoprotein containing a 118 amino acid cytoplasmic domain, a 19 amino acid transmembrane domain, and a 574 amino acid extracellular domain. Recombinant human PECAM-1 is a 572 amino acid glycoprotein comprising the extracellular domain of PECAM-1. Monomeric glycosylated PECAM-1 migrates at an apparent molecular weight of approximately 80.0-95.0 kDa by SDS-PAGE analysis under reducing conditions.

Uniprot Description

PECAM-1: a cell adhesion molecule expressed on platelets and at endothelial cell intercellular junctions. Plays a role in modulation of integrin-mediated cell adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, cell migration, negative regulation of immune cell signaling, autoimmunity, macrophage phagocytosis, IgE-mediated anaphylaxis and thrombosis. Undergoes alternative splicing, generating multiple isoforms in vascular beds of various tissues.

The amino acid sequence is listed below: QENSFTINSV DMKSLPDWTV QNGKNLTLQC FADVSTTSHV KPQHQM LFYK DDVLFYNISS MKSTESYFIP EVRIYDSGTY KCTVIVNNKE K TTAEYQVLV EGVPSPRVTL DKKEAIQGGI VRVNCSVPEE KAPIHFT IEK LELNEKMVKL KREKNSRDQN FVILEFPVEE QDRVLSFRCQ AR IISGIHMQ TSESTKSELV TVTESFSTPK FHISPTGMIM EGAQLHIK CT IQVTHLAQEF PEIIIQKDKA IVAHNRHGNK AVYSVMAMVE HSG NYTCKVE SSRISKVSSI VVNITELFSK PELESSFTHL DQGERLNLS C SIPGAPPANF TIQKEDTIVS QTQDFTKIAS KSDSGTYICT AGID KVVKKS NTVQIVVCEM LSQPRISYDA QFEVIKGQTI EVRCESISGT LPISYQLLKT SKVLENSTKN SNDPAVFKDN PTEDVEYQCV ADNCH SHAKM LSEVLRVKVI APVDEVQISI LSSKVVESGE DIVLQCAVNE GSGPITYKFY REKEGKPFYQ MTSNATQAFW TKQKASKEQE GEYYCT AFNR ANHASSVPRS KILTVRVILA PWKKTRHHHH HH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD31/PECAM-1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
