NCBI Description

Opsins are members of the guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptor superfamily. This opsin gene is expressed in the eye, brain, testes, and spinal cord. This gene belongs to the seven-exon subfamily of mammalian opsin genes that includes peropsin (RRH) and retinal G protein coupled receptor (RGR). Like these other seven-exon opsin genes, this family member may encode a protein with photoisomerase activity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Product Notes

The OPN5 opn5 (Catalog #AAA7024579) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Cell Free Expression and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-354aa; full length protein. This is a recombinant transmembrane protein expressed in a cell-free expression system. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OPN5 opn5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MALNHTALPQ DERLPHYLRD GDPFASKLSW EADLVAGFYL TIIGILSTFG NGYVLYMSSR RKKKLRPAEI MTINLAVCDL GISVVGKPFT IISCFCHRWV FGWIGCRWYG WAGFFFGCGS LITMTAVSLD RYLKICYLSY GVWLKRKHAY ICLAAIWAYA SFWTTMPLVG LGDYVPEPFG TSCTLDWWLA QASVGGQVFI LNILFFCLLL PTAVIVFSYV KIIAKVKSSS KEVAHFDSRI HSSHVLEMKL TKVAMLICAG FLIAWIPYAV VSVWSAFGRP DSIPIQLSVV PTLLAKSAAM YNPIIYQVID YKFACCQTGG LKATKKKSLE GFRLHTVTTV RKSSAVLEIH EEWE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Opsin-5 (OPN5), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
