Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial protein with similarity to dynamin-related GTPases. The encoded protein localizes to the inner mitochondrial membrane and helps regulate mitochondrial stability and energy output. This protein also sequesters cytochrome c. Mutations in this gene have been associated with optic atrophy type 1, which is a dominantly inherited optic neuropathy resulting in progressive loss of visual acuity, leading in many cases to legal blindness. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]

Uniprot Description

OPA1: a dynamin-related GTPase required for mitochondrial fusion and regulation of apoptosis. May form a diffusion barrier for proteins stored in mitochondrial cristae. Proteolytic processing in response to intrinsic apoptotic signals may lead to disassembly of OPA1 oligomers and release of the caspase activator cytochrome C (CYCS) into the mitochondrial intermembrane space. Defects in OPA1 are the cause of optic atrophy 1 and deafness. Eight splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The OPA1 opa1 (Catalog #AAA2105500) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Host: E Coli Source: Prokaryotic Expression and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Gln285~Glu561. AAA Biotech's Optic Atrophy 1 (OPA1) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Positive Control, Immunogen, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OPA1 opa1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Optic Atrophy 1 (OPA1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
