NCBI Description

This gene encodes a secreted protein that belongs to the family of natriuretic peptides. Its precursor protein is processed to generate the active mature peptide. The mature peptide is a cardiac hormone that plays a role in ventricular remodeling as well as blood pressure regulation. Mice lacking this gene exhibit cardiac fibrosis. In humans this gene is associated with congestive heart failure, low bone-mineral density and postmenopausal osteoporosis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2013]

Uniprot Description

Function: Cardiac hormone which may function as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. Also plays a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3.

Product Notes

The Mouse NPPB nppb (Catalog #AAA704926) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA704926 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse NPPB. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "natriuretic peptide precursor B, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
