Principle of the Assay: The Picokine Human NCAM1 Pre-Coated ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is a solid phase immunoassay specially designed to measure Human NCAM1 with a 96-well strip plate that is pre-coated with antibody specific for NCAM1. The detection antibody is a biotinylated antibody specific for NCAM1. The capture antibody is monoclonal antibody from mouse, the detection antibody is polyclonal antibody from goat. The kit contains recombinant Human NCAM1 with immunogen: Expression system for standard: NSO; Immunogen sequence: L20-G718. The kit is analytically validated with ready to use reagents. To measure Human NCAM1, add standards and samples to the wells, then add the biotinylated detection antibody. Wash the wells with PBS or TBS buffer, and add Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex (ABC-HRP). Wash away the unbounded ABC-HRP with PBS or TBS buffer and add TMB. TMB is substrate to HRP and will be catalyzed to produce a blue color product, which changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of the yellow product is linearly proportional to Human NCAM1 in the sample. Read the density of the yellow product in each well using a plate reader, and benchmark the sample wells' readings against the standard curve to determine the concentration of Human NCAM1 in the sample!!Background/Introduction: Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM, also known as the cluster of differentiation CD56, is a hemophilic binding glycoprotein. This glycoprotein is mainly expressed on the surface of neurons, glia, skeletal muscle and natural killer cells. NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin family of cell adhesion molecules that functions in the glomerular filtration barrier in the kidney. The gene is primarily expressed in renal tissues, and the protein is a type-1 transmembrane protein found at the slit diaphragm of glomerular podocytes. The slit diaphragm is thought to function as an ultrafilter to exclude albumin and other plasma macromolecules in the formation of urine. Mutations in this gene result in Finnish-type congenital nephrosis 1, characterized by severe proteinuria and loss of the slit diaphragm and foot processes.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
