NCBI Description

Nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinases (EC 2.7.4.6), such as NME6, are ubiquitous enzymes that catalyze transfer of gamma-phosphates, via a phosphohistidine intermediate, between nucleoside and dioxynucleoside tri- and diphosphates (Mehus et al., 1999 [PubMed 10453732]).[supplied by OMIM]

Uniprot Description

NME6: Major role in the synthesis of nucleoside triphosphates other than ATP. The ATP gamma phosphate is transferred to the NDP beta phosphate via a ping-pong mechanism, using a phosphorylated active-site intermediate. Inhibitor of p53-induced apoptosis. Belongs to the NDK family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Nucleotide Metabolism - purine; Nucleotide Metabolism - pyrimidine; EC 2.7.4.6; Kinase, other; Kinase, nucleoside diphosphate; Other group; NDK family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p21

Cellular Component: mitochondrion

Molecular Function: metal ion binding; nucleoside diphosphate kinase activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: GTP biosynthetic process; CTP biosynthetic process; apoptosis; UTP biosynthetic process; negative regulation of mitosis; nucleoside diphosphate phosphorylation; negative regulation of cell growth

Product Notes

The NME6 nme6 (Catalog #AAA1562219) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NME6, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
