Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse VNR antibody. VNR present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse VNR Antibody is added and binds to VNR in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated VNR antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse VNR. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the pexin family. It is found in serum and tissues and promotes cell adhesion and spreading, inhibits the membrane-damaging effect of the terminal cytolytic complement pathway, and binds to several serpin serine protease inhibitors. It is a secreted protein and exists in either a single chain form or a clipped, two chain form held together by a disulfide bond. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
