Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for LRP1 elisa kit
Description: This Mouse Prolow-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate LRP1 in samples. An antibody specific for LRP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LRP1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LRP1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LRP1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor), also known as LRP1 or CD91, is a protein forming a receptor found in the plasma membrane of human cells involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis.Neurons require cholesterol to function. Cholesterol is imported into the neuron by the apolipoprotein apoE4 via LRP1 receptors on the cell surface. It is thought that a causal factor in Alzheimer's is the malfunction of this process which damages neurons by starving them of cholesterol. The protein showed strong calcium binding. Kristensen et al. (1990) and Strickland et al. (1990) demonstrated that LRP is identical to the alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) receptor (A2MR). Like the mannose-6-phosphate receptor, the A2MR/LRP molecule is probably bifunctional.

Uniprot Description

Endocytic receptor involved in endocytosis and in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Required for early embryonic development. Involved in cellular lipid homeostasis. Involved in the plasma clearance of chylomicron remnants and activated LRPAP1 (alpha 2-macroglobulin), as well as the local metabolism of complexes between plasminogen activators and their endogenous inhibitors. May modulate cellular events, such as APP metabolism, kinase-dependent intracellular signaling, neuronal calcium signaling as well as neurotransmission.

Product Notes

The Mouse LRP1 lrp1 (Catalog #AAA9717768) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9717768 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse LRP1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Prolow-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1 (LRP1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
