Intended Uses: This ST3GAL1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Mouse ST3GAL1. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: ST3GAL1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-ST3GAL1 antibody and an ST3GAL1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with ST3GAL1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the ST3GAL1 concentration since ST3GAL1 from samples and ST3GAL1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-ST3GAL1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by ST3GAL1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind ST3GAL1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The ST3GAL1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The encoded protein is normally found in the Golgi but can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form. Correct glycosylation of the encoded protein may be critical to its sialyltransferase activity. This protein, which is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29, can use the same acceptor substrates as does sialyltransferase 4B. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. Other transcript variants may exist, but have not been fully characterized yet. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ST3GAL1: It may be responsible for the synthesis of the sequence NeuAc-alpha-2,3-Gal-beta-1,3-GalNAc- found on sugar chains O- linked to Thr or Ser and also as a terminal sequence on certain gangliosides. SIAT4A and SIAT4B sialylate the same acceptor substrates but exhibit different Km values. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 29 family.

Product Notes

The Mouse ST3GAL1 st3gal1 (Catalog #AAA7235806) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7235806 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse ST3GAL1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CMP-N-acetylneuraminate-beta-galactosamide-alpha-2, 3-sialyltransferase 1 (ST3GAL1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
