Related Product Information for anti-UBQLN1 antibody
Ubiquilin is a recently discovered protein that is involved in early onset Alzheimer's disease. Ubiquilin binds to and promotes aggregation of presenilin proteins. Although the Ubiquilin protein contains ubiquitin-like domains, Ubiquilin appears to increase presenilin synthesis, rather than affect presenilin turnover. Ubiquilin is found in neuropathological lesions that are characteristic of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an ubiquitin-like protein (ubiquilin) that shares a high degree of similarity with related products in yeast, rat and frog. Ubiquilins contain an N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain and a C-terminal ubiquitin-associated domain. They physically associate with both proteasomes and ubiquitin ligases, and thus are thought to functionally link the ubiquitination machinery to the proteasome to affect in vivo protein degradation. This ubiquilin has also been shown to modulate accumulation of presenilin proteins, and it is found in lesions associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

UBQLN1: Links CD47 to the cytoskeleton. Promotes the surface expression of GABA-A receptors. Promotes the accumulation of uncleaved PSEN1 and PSEN2 by stimulating their biosynthesis. Has no effect on PSEN1 and PSEN2 degradation. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The UBQLN1 ubqln1 (Catalog #AAA603343) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Ubiquilin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Ubiquilin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). Suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation, ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Immunoprecipitation: 2ug/reaction. Use native protein. ELISA: 0.1-1ug/ml Western Blot: 1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UBQLN1 ubqln1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Ubiquilin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
