NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a growth factor that is a ligand for the epidermal growth factor receptor, which activates a signaling pathway for cell proliferation, differentiation and development. This protein may act as either a transmembrane-bound ligand or a soluble ligand. This gene has been associated with many types of cancers, and it may also be involved in some cases of cleft lip/palate. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
Uniprot Description
TGFalpha: TGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor/EGFR and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar. Interacts with the PDZ domains of MAGI3, SDCBP and SNTA1. The interaction with SDCBP, is required for the targeting to the cell surface. In the endoplasmic reticulum, in its immature form (i.e. with a prosegment and lacking full N-glycosylation), interacts with CNIH. In the Golgi apparatus, may form a complex with CNIH and GORASP2. Interacts (via cytoplasmic C-terminal domain) with NKD2. Isoform 1, isoform 3 and isoform 4 are expressed in keratinocytes and tumor-derived cell lines. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The TGF-alpha tgfa (Catalog #AAA6123683) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TGF-alpha (EGF-like TGF, ETGF, TFGA, TGF Type 1, TGFA, Wa1, Waved 1) (APC) reacts with Bovine, Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TGF-alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), FLISA, Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. IHC-P: 2-4ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TGF-alpha tgfa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TGF-alpha, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
