NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Alternate transcriptional splice variants of this gene have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized. In addition, three pseudogenes of this gene have been identified. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CCT-epsilon: Molecular chaperone; assists the folding of proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. As part of the BBS/CCT complex may play a role in the assembly of BBSome, a complex involved in ciliogenesis regulating transports vesicles to the cilia. Known to play a role, in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin. Defects in CCT5 are the cause of hereditary sensory neuropathy autosomal recessive with spastic paraplegia (HSNSP). The disease is characterized by spastic paraplegia and progressive distal sensory neuropathy leading to mutilating ulcerations of the upper and lower limbs. Belongs to the TCP-1 chaperonin family.

Product Notes

The CCT5 cct5 (Catalog #AAA604604) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's T-complex Protein 1 epsilon can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Gel Shift Assay (GS/EMSA). Suitable for use in Gel Super Shift Assay, Immunoprecipitation, and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:250-1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCT5 cct5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "T-complex Protein 1 epsilon, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
