Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 2B1/SULT2B1 in Human Prostate. Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 2B1/SULT2B1 was detected in immersion fixed paraffinembedded sections of human prostate using Mouse Human Cytosolic Sulfotransferase 2B1/SULT2B1 Monoclonal Antibody at 15ug/ml overnight at 4 °C. Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heatinduced epitope retrieval using Antigen Retrieval ReagentBasic. Tissue was stained using the Mouse HRPDAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit a n d counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to epithelial cells. Related Product Information for anti-SULT2B1 antibody
SulT2B1 is a 45-48kD member of the sulfotransferase 1 family of enzymes. SulT2B1 is widely expressed, being found in platelets, stratum granulosum keratinocytes, breast and prostatic epithelium, and syncytiotrophoblast cells. SulT2B1 catalyzes the sulfonation of DHEA, a precursor for sex steroids, and cholesterol, which supports stratification of the epidermis. Human SulT2B1 is 365aa in length. There are PAPS binding sites between aa70-75 and 147-155, a myristoylation motif between aa255-259, and a Pro-rich region between aa305-364 that may extend enzyme half-life. There is one 43kD splice form (ST2B1a) that shows an eight aa substitution for aa1-23. It is expressed in fetal brain and generates pregnenolone sulfate, a steroid that modulates neurotransmitters. Full-length human SulT2B1 shares 71% aa identity with mouse SulT2B1.

NCBI Description

Sulfotransferase enzymes catalyze the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. These cytosolic enzymes are different in their tissue distributions and substrate specificities. The gene structure (number and length of exons) is similar among family members. This gene sulfates dehydroepiandrosterone but not 4-nitrophenol, a typical substrate for the phenol and estrogen sulfotransferase subfamilies. Two alternatively spliced variants that encode different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

SULT2B1: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs and xenobiotic compounds. Sulfonation increases the water solubility of most compounds, and therefore their renal excretion, but it can also result in bioactivation to form active metabolites. Sulfates hydroxysteroids like DHEA. Isoform 1 preferentially sulfonates cholesterol, and isoform 2 avidly sulfonates pregnenolone but not cholesterol. Belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The SULT2B1 sult2b1 (Catalog #AAA641294) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SULT2B1 (Sulfotransferase Family, Cytosolic, 2B, Member 1, Alcohol Sulfotransferase, HSST2, Hydroxysteroid Sulfotransferase 2, ST2B1, Sulfotransferase 2B1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SULT2B1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: 8-25ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SULT2B1 sult2b1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SULT2B1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
