Related Product Information for anti-ST8Sia II antibody
ST8Sia II is a type II membrane protein that is thought to catalyze the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to N-linked oligosaccharides and glycoproteins. The encoded protein may be found in the Golgi apparatus and may be involved in the production of polysialic acid, a modulator of the adhesive properties of neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM1). This protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. It is highly expressed in fetal brain, kidney and heart and to a much lesser extent in adult heart and thymus.
Product Categories/Family for anti-ST8Sia II antibody

NCBI Description

ST8SIA3 belongs to a family of sialyltransferases that form sialyl-alpha-2,8-sialyl-R linkages at the nonreducing termini of glycoconjugates (Lee et al., 1998 [PubMed 9826427]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

ST8SIA3: May transfer sialic acid through alpha-2,8-linkages to alpha-2,3-linked and alpha-2,8-linked sialic acid of N-linked oligosaccharides of glycoproteins and glycolipids. It can form polysialic acid in vitro directly on alpha-2,3-, alpha-2,6-, or alpha-2,8-linked sialic acid. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 29 family.

Product Notes

The ST8Sia II (Catalog #AAA607026) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Anti-ST8Sia II reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ST8Sia II can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistryy. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ST8Sia II for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ST8Sia II, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
