Preparation and Storage
This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20 degree C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8 degree C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20 degree C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

Related Product Information for anti-SAP antibody
Mouse anti Human SAP antibody, clone AB12-5A1, recognizes Serum Amyloid P-component (SAP) also known as 9.5S alpha-1-glycoprotein, a member of the pentraxin family of proteins. It is synthesized by hepatocytes and secreted into the blood. In humans the levels of SAP range between 20-50ug/ml (Pilling & Gomer 2018).

SAP is able to bind to a variety of molecules including apoptotic debris, bacterial polysaccharides, amyloid deposits and bacterial toxins. Phagocytic cells such as monocytes and macrophages then bind the SAP and engulf the material bound to SAP as part of debris clearance (Pilling & Gomer 2018).

The biotinylated Mouse anti Human SAP antibody, clone AB12-5A1 can be used as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA with the purified Mouse anti Human SAP antibody, clone AB18-4E2 as the capture antibody.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a glycoprotein, belonging to the pentraxin family of proteins, which has a characteristic pentameric organization. These family members have considerable sequence homology which is thought to be the result of gene duplication. The binding of the encoded protein to proteins in the pathological amyloid cross-beta fold suggests its possible role as a chaperone. This protein is also thought to control the degradation of chromatin. It has been demonstrated that this protein binds to apoptotic cells at an early stage, which raises the possibility that it is involved in dealing with apoptotic cells in vivo. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008]

Uniprot Description

APCS: Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. May also function as a calcium-dependent lectin. SAP is a precursor of amyloid component P which is found in basement membrane and associated with amyloid deposits. Belongs to the pentaxin family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21-q23

Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; extracellular space; protein complex; extracellular region; nucleus

Molecular Function: complement component C1q binding; unfolded protein binding; virion binding; calcium ion binding; carbohydrate binding

Product Notes

The SAP apcs (Catalog #AAA226228) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti Human SAP:Biotin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SAP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SAP apcs for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SAP, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
