Biological Significance
The p90 ribosomal S6 kinases (RSKs) comprise a family of serine/threonine kinases that lie at the terminus of the ERK pathway. In humans, the RSK family consists of four isoforms (RSK1 to -4). RSK family members are unusual among serine/threonine kinases in that they contain two distinct kinase domains, both of which are catalytically functional. Theses kinase dimains are activated in a sequential manner by a series of phosphorylations. RSK regulates gene expression via association and phosphorylation of transcriptional regulators including c-Fos, estrogen receptor, NFkappaB/IkappaB alpha, cAMP-response element-binding protein (CREB).
Cross-Reactivity
Human, Mouse, Rat
Immunogen
RSK2/3 antibody was raised in Mouse using a recombinant human protein purified from E Coli(His/ABD-RSK3 415-733 a.a.) as the immunogen
Preparation and Storage
Aliquot and store for 1 year at -20 degree C, avoid freeze/thaw cycles

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the RSK (ribosomal S6 kinase) family of serine/threonine kinases. This kinase contains 2 non-identical kinase catalytic domains and phosphorylates various substrates, including members of the mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) signalling pathway. The activity of this protein has been implicated in controlling cell growth and differentiation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Coffin-Lowry syndrome (CLS). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

RSK2: an AGC kinase of the RSK family. Phosphorylated and activated by Erk1 and -2 in response to many growth factors, polypeptide hormones and neurotransmitters. Several phosphorylation sites are important for its activation. Possesses two kinase domains connected by a regulator linker region. Phosphorylates a wide range of substrates including ribosomal protein S6. Prominently expressed in brain structures essential for cognitive function and learning.

Product Notes

The RSK2/3 rps6ka3 (Catalog #AAA834622) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's RSK2/3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000-2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RSK2/3 rps6ka3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RSK2/3, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
