Biological Significance
PDE6G encodes the gamma subunit of cyclic GMP-phosphodiesterase, which is composed of alpha- and beta- catalytic subunits and two identical, inhibitory gamma subunits. This gene is expressed in rod photoreceptors and functions in the phototransduction signaling cascade. It is also expressed in a variety of other tissues, and has been shown toregulate the c-Src protein kinase and G-protein-coupled receptor kinase 2.
Cross-Reactivity
Human
Immunogen
PDE6G antibody was raised in mouse using a full length recombinant protein of human PDE6G (NP_002593) produced in HEK293T cells, as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the gamma subunit of cyclic GMP-phosphodiesterase, which is composed of alpha- and beta- catalytic subunits and two identical, inhibitory gamma subunits. This gene is expressed in rod photoreceptors and functions in the phototransduction signaling cascade. It is also expressed in a variety of other tissues, and has been shown to regulate the c-Src protein kinase and G-protein-coupled receptor kinase 2. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Uniprot Description

PDE6G: inhibitory gamma subunit of the retinal photoreceptor type 6 cGMP phosphodiesterase (PDE-gamma). Phosphorylated by GRK2. Regulates EGFR dependent stimulation of ERK1/2. Forms a cellular complex with src. cGMP-PDEs are the effector molecules in G-protein-mediated phototransduction in vertebrate rods and cones. Participates in processes of transmission and amplification of the visual signal.

Protein type: Phosphodiesterase; Nucleotide Metabolism - purine; EC 3.1.4.35

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25

Cellular Component: plasma membrane

Molecular Function: enzyme inhibitor activity; 3',5'-cyclic-GMP phosphodiesterase activity; protein binding; spectrin binding; cGMP binding

Biological Process: rhodopsin mediated signaling; phototransduction, visible light; regulation of rhodopsin mediated signaling; visual perception; metabolic process; activation of MAPK activity; positive regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; negative regulation of catalytic activity

Product Notes

The PDE6G pde6g (Catalog #AAA834519) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PDE6G can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PDE6G pde6g for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PDE6G, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
