Biological Significance
PDE4B is a member of the type IV, cyclic AMP (cAMP)-specific, cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) family. Cyclic nucleotides are important second messengers that regulate and mediate a number of cellular responses to extracellular signals, such as hormones, light, and neurotransmitters. The cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) regulate the cellular concentrations of cyclic nucleotides and thereby play a role in signal transduction.
Cross-Reactivity
Human
Immunogen
PDE4B antibody was raised in mouse using a full length recombinant protein of human PDE4B (NP_002591) produced in HEK293T cells, as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the type IV, cyclic AMP (cAMP)-specific, cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) family. The encoded protein regulates the cellular concentrations of cyclic nucleotides and thereby play a role in signal transduction. Altered activity of this protein has been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. Alternative splicing and the use of alternative promoters results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]

Uniprot Description

PDE4B: a cAMP-specific phosphodiesterase. May be involved in mediating central nervous system effects of therapeutic agents ranging from antidepressants to antiasthmatic and anti-inflammatory agents. Inhibited by rolipram. Three alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Nucleotide Metabolism - purine; EC 3.1.4.53; Phosphodiesterase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p31

Cellular Component: perinuclear region of cytoplasm; voltage-gated calcium channel complex; Z disc; nucleus; cytosol

Molecular Function: 3',5'-cyclic-AMP phosphodiesterase activity; metal ion binding; cAMP binding; 3',5'-cyclic-nucleotide phosphodiesterase activity

Biological Process: neutrophil chemotaxis; positive regulation of interferon-gamma production; cAMP catabolic process; positive regulation of interleukin-2 production; neutrophil homeostasis; T cell receptor signaling pathway; leukocyte migration

Product Notes

The PDE4B pde4b (Catalog #AAA834612) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PDE4B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). FC: 1:100 IF: 1:100 IHC: 1:150 WB: 1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PDE4B pde4b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PDE4B, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
