NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a potent cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor. The encoded protein binds to and inhibits the activity of cyclin-cyclin-dependent kinase2 or -cyclin-dependent kinase4 complexes, and thus functions as a regulator of cell cycle progression at G1. The expression of this gene is tightly controlled by the tumor suppressor protein p53, through which this protein mediates the p53-dependent cell cycle G1 phase arrest in response to a variety of stress stimuli. This protein can interact with proliferating cell nuclear antigen, a DNA polymerase accessory factor, and plays a regulatory role in S phase DNA replication and DNA damage repair. This protein was reported to be specifically cleaved by CASP3-like caspases, which thus leads to a dramatic activation of cyclin-dependent kinase2, and may be instrumental in the execution of apoptosis following caspase activation. Mice that lack this gene have the ability to regenerate damaged or missing tissue. Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Product Notes
The CDKN1A cdkn1a (Catalog #AAA438987) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The p21WAF1 (Tumor Suppressor Protein) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human. Does not react with Mouse and Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's p21WAF1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin. Flow Cytometry (0.5-1ug/million cells in 0.1ml) Immunofluorescence (1-2ug/ml) Western Blot (1-2ug/ml) Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed) (2-4ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT) (Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDKN1A cdkn1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "p21WAF1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
