Related Product Information for anti-MYOF antibody
Ferlin proteins have been implicated in vesicle trafficking in a variety of physio-logical settings. All mammalian ferlins derive their names based on homology to the C. elegans protein FER-1 (FERtilization defective-1). FER1L3 (myoferlin, MYOF), has not yet been directly associated with a distinct mammalian disorder, but recent microarray and proteomic studies in the cancer literature have reported overexpression of MYOF in breast cancer specimens and relevant cell lines. Therefore, MYOF may be an important protein in breast cancer cells for their mobilization during cellular migration and/or invasion.

Uniprot Description

myoferlin: Calcium/phospholipid-binding protein that plays a role in the plasmalemma repair mechanism of endothelial cells that permits rapid resealing of membranes disrupted by mechanical stress. Involved in endocytic recycling. Implicated in VEGF signal transduction by regulating the levels of the receptor KDR. Belongs to the ferlin family. 8 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell surface

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q24

Cellular Component: caveola; cytoplasmic vesicle; cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; integral to membrane; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; nuclear envelope; nuclear membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: phospholipid binding; protein binding

Biological Process: blood circulation; muscle contraction; plasma membrane repair; regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway

Product Notes

The Myoferlin myof (Catalog #AAA190957) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Myoferlin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot (IB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Immunoblotting: Use at 1-10ug/ml. A band of ~230kDa is detected. Immunocytochemistry: Use at 1-20ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Myoferlin myof for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myoferlin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
