Related Product Information for anti-IFNAR1 antibody
The type I interferons (IFNs), alpha and beta , are a group of structurally and functionally related proteins that are induced by either viruses or double stranded RNA and defined by their ability to confer an antiviral state in cells. The alpha and beta IFNs appear to compete with one another for binding to a common cell surface receptor, while immune IFN (IFNgamma) binds to a distinct receptor. The latter protein, IFN-alphaR, is only weakly responsive to type I interferons in contrast to IFN-alpha/beta R, which binds to and responds effectively to IFN-beta and to several of the IFN- subtypes. Moreover, IFN-alpha/beta R is physically associated with the cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase JAK1 and thus, in addition to ligand binding, appears to be functionally involved in signal transduction. IFN-alphaR1 is a receptor for IFN-alpha/beta and is present as the full chain (IFN-alphaR1a) and as a splice-variant (IFN-alphaR1). The IFN-gamma receptor complex consists of an alpha subunit (IFN-gammaRalpha) and a beta subunit that is 332 amino acids in length (mouse) and 337 amino acids in length (human).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding and activation of the receptor stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. The encoded protein also functions as an antiviral factor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

IFNAR1: receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Belongs to the type II cytokine family of receptors. Binding to type I IFNs triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of a number of proteins including JAKs, TYK2, STAT proteins and IFNR alpha- and beta-subunits themselves. Tyk2 tyrosine kinase is essential for stable cell surface expression of IFNAR1. Present in all tissues and even on the surface of most IFN-resistant cells.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 21q22.11

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; interferon receptor activity; interferon-alpha/beta receptor activity

Biological Process: positive regulation of interferon-gamma production; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; T cell activation; response to virus; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; positive regulation of interleukin-1 beta secretion; JAK-STAT cascade; interferon type I biosynthetic process; defense response to virus

Product Notes

The IFNAR1 ifnar1 (Catalog #AAA9435501) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IFNAR1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IFNAR1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB: 1:1000-1:2000 IHC:1:50-1:200 FC/FACS: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IFNAR1 ifnar1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IFNAR1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
