Biological Significance
Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2), also known as Human herpes virus 1 and 2 (HHV-1 and -2), are two members of the herpes virus family, Herpesviridae, that infect humans. Both HSV-1 (which produces cold sores) and HSV-2 (which produces genital herpes) are ubiquitous and contagious.
Cross-Reactivity
Reactive with Glycoprotein C (gC-2) of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 only. Reactive in IFA of infected cells, and immunoprecipitation of specific viral protein.

This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.

HSV2 gC antibody was raised in mouse using herpes simplex virus II glycoprotein C (gC) as the immunogen.
