Preparation and Storage
This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20 degree C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8 degree C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20 degree C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

Related Product Information for anti-HP antibody
Mouse anti Human haptoglobin antibody, clone C08-1E10, recognizes haptoglobin, an alpha sialoglycoprotein. Synthesis of haptoglobin is induced by IL-6, IL-1 beta and TNF and it is produced as a pro-protein before it is cleaved in the endoplasmic reticulum by C1r-like protein, to generate the mature form (Redmond et al. 2018). Haptoglobin is composed of two peptide chains referred to as the alpha and beta chains. It is largely expressed by hepatocytes, but is also expressed to a lesser extent in lung, skin and kidney tissues (Vanuytsel et al. 2013). A key role of haptoglobin is its hemoglobin binding capacity, which is utilized during hemolysis to prevent iron loss and subsequent kidney damage. The haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex is removed by the CD163 receptor expressed on the surface of monocytes and macrophages (Sadrzadeh & Bozorgmehr 2004). Haptoglobin also plays roles in the innate and adaptive immune system and has anti-inflammatory activity such as inhibiting monocyte production of TNF, IL-11 and IL-12 (Arredouani et al. 2005).

The biotinylated Mouse anti Human haptoglobin antibody, clone C08-1E10 can be used as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA with the purified Mouse anti Human haptoglobin antibody, clone E07-10E9 as the capture antibody.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a preproprotein, which is processed to yield both alpha and beta chains, which subsequently combine as a tetramer to produce haptoglobin. Haptoglobin functions to bind free plasma hemoglobin, which allows degradative enzymes to gain access to the hemoglobin, while at the same time preventing loss of iron through the kidneys and protecting the kidneys from damage by hemoglobin. Mutations in this gene and/or its regulatory regions cause ahaptoglobinemia or hypohaptoglobinemia. This gene has also been linked to diabetic nephropathy, the incidence of coronary artery disease in type 1 diabetes, Crohn's disease, inflammatory disease behavior, primary sclerosing cholangitis, susceptibility to idiopathic Parkinson's disease, and a reduced incidence of Plasmodium falciparum malaria. A similar duplicated gene is located next to this gene on chromosome 16. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

HP: Haptoglobin combines with free plasma hemoglobin, preventing loss of iron through the kidneys and protecting the kidneys from damage by hemoglobin, while making the hemoglobin accessible to degradative enzymes. Defects in HP are the cause of anhaptoglobinemia (AHP). AHP is a condition characterized by the absence of the serum glycoprotein haptoglobin. Serum levels of haptoglobin vary among normal persons: levels are low in the neonatal period and in the elderly, differ by population, and can be influenced by environmental factors, such as infection. Secondary hypohaptoglobinemia can occur as a consequence of hemolysis, during which haptoglobin binds to free hemoglobin. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family.

Product Notes

The HP hp (Catalog #AAA226153) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti Human Haptoglobin:Biotin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Haptoglobin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HP hp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Haptoglobin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
