NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the glutathione peroxidase family. Glutathione peroxidase functions in the detoxification of hydrogen peroxide, and is one of the most important antioxidant enzymes in humans. This protein is one of only a few proteins known in higher vertebrates to contain selenocysteine, which occurs at the active site of glutathione peroxidase and is coded by UGA, that normally functions as a translation termination codon. In addition, this protein is characterized in a polyalanine sequence polymorphism in the N-terminal region, which includes three alleles with five, six or seven alanine (ALA) repeats in this sequence. The allele with five ALA repeats is significantly associated with breast cancer risk. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. Product Notes
The GPX1 gpx1 (Catalog #AAA4753284) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Glutathione Peroxidase 1 Rabbit mAb reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Glutathione Peroxidase 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:1000 IHC: 1:50 ICC/IF: 1:20 FC: 1:20 IP: 1:20. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GPX1 gpx1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glutathione Peroxidase 1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
