Mouse Cytokeratin 8 Monoclonal Antibody | anti-KRT8 antibody
Mouse Anti-Cytokeratin 8-HRP
Keratins are a family of intermediate filament proteins that assemble into filaments through forming heterodimers of one type I keratin (keratins 9 to 23) and one type II keratin (keratins 1-8). The two keratin types share only 30% sequence homology.2-6 Keratins demonstrate tissue- and differentiation-specific expression profiles. Cytokeratin 8 (55 kDa) belongs to the type B (basic) subfamily of high molecular weight keratins and exists in combination with keratin 18. It is expressed in all simple type epithelia tissues (e.g., liver, pancreas, kidney, gut epithelial lining) but not in stratified squamous epithelia. Cytokeratin 8 is also present in the majority of adenocarcinomas and ductal carcinomas but is absent in squamous cell carcinomas.
The SB37b monoclonal antibody reacts specifically with cytokeratin 8 and recombinant C-terminal keratin 8.

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is a member of the type II keratin family clustered on the long arm of chromosome 12. Type I and type II keratins heteropolymerize to form intermediate-sized filaments in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells. The product of this gene typically dimerizes with keratin 18 to form an intermediate filament in simple single-layered epithelial cells. This protein plays a role in maintaining cellular structural integrity and also functions in signal transduction and cellular differentiation. Mutations in this gene cause cryptogenic cirrhosis. Uniprot Description
Function: Together with KRT19, helps to link the contractile apparatus to dystrophin at the costameres of striated muscle. Ref.19
Subunit structure: Heterotetramer of two type I and two type II keratins. Keratin-8 associates with keratin-18. Associates with KRT20. Interacts with HCV core protein and PNN. When associated with KRT19, interacts with DMD. Interacts with TCHP. Interacts with APEX1. Ref.13 Ref.14 Ref.17 Ref.19 Ref.20 Ref.22 Ref.30
Subcellular location: Cytoplasm. Nucleus › nucleoplasm
By similarity. Nucleus matrix
By similarity Ref.13 Ref.30.
Tissue specificity: Observed in muscle fibers accumulating in the costameres of myoplasm at the sarcolemma membrane in structures that contain dystrophin and spectrin. Expressed in gingival mucosa and hard palate of the oral cavity. Ref.13 Ref.19
Post-translational modification: Phosphorylation on serine residues is enhanced during EGF stimulation and mitosis. Ser-74 phosphorylation plays an important role in keratin filament reorganization.O-glycosylated at multiple sites; glycans consist of single N-acetylglucosamine residues. Ref.12
Involvement in disease: Defects in KRT8 are a cause of cirrhosis (CIRRH) [
MIM:215600]. Ref.34
Miscellaneous: There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) and II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa).
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the intermediate filament family.

The KRT8 krt8 (Catalog #AAA670012) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Cytokeratin 8 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA; Immunohistochemistry; Western Blot. Western Blot Suggested Dilution: 1:5,000-1:10,000 Immunohistochemistry Suggested Dilution: 1:1000-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT8 krt8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytokeratin 8, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
