Biological Significance
Type II keratins (or Type II cytokeratins) constitutes the Type II intermediate filaments (IFs) of the intracytoplasmatic cytoskeleton, which is present in all mammalian epithelial cells. The type 2 cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral, high molecular weight proteins which in vivo are arranged in pairs of heterotypic Type I and Type II keratin chains, coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues.
Cross-Reactivity
Amphibia, bovine, human
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Immunogen
Cytokeratin 2 antibody was raised in mouse using cytoskeletal proteins from cultured human MCF-7 cells as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

KRT75: Plays a central role in hair and nail formation. Essential component of keratin intermediate filaments in the companion layer of the hair follicle. Defects in KRT75 may be a cause of loose anagen hair syndrome (LAHS). In LAHS, anagen hairs are easily pulled from the scalp. The hair is relatively sparse and does not grow long. Hair of fair color and hair shafts of reduced caliber, and an early age of onset are features. Usually the hairs are not fragile and there are no areas of breakage. Belongs to the intermediate filament family.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13

Cellular Component: keratin filament

Molecular Function: structural molecule activity

Product Notes

The Cytokeratin 2 krt75 (Catalog #AAA531056) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Cytokeratin 2 antibody reacts with Amphibia, Bovine, Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cytokeratin 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin, Western Blot (WB). IHC-F: 1:10. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Cytokeratin 2 krt75 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytokeratin 2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
